Weekend Box Office Report: 'Lone Survivor' Beats The Competition

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Brisk multiplex business produced a brand-new leader at the box office.
"Lone Survivor" lived up to its name, the only movie to eclipse the $15-million mark over the year's second weekend.
The military drama starring Mark Wahlberg finished first at the box office by earning an estimated $38-million on its debut weekend.
Second place belonged to last weekend's leader, "Frozen," the animated attraction, which took in $15-million.
Third was Martin Scorsese's controversial holdover, "The Wolf of Wall Street," with $9-million.
And virtually tied for fourth were the holdover Ab-scam comedy, "American Hustle," and the debuting action fantasy, "The Legend of Hercules," with just under $9-million each.
As for the new comedy-drama, "August: Osage County," with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts: Despite being in limited release, it earned $7-million, good for seventh place. Overall, industry-wide totals were slightly higher than those of a year ago.
