Wednesday's Child: Je'Liyah

By Larry Kane
Produced by Timothy McLaughlin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Je'Liyah has a lot of spirit!  She's a cheerleader, and she wants to meet professional cheerleaders some day.

But this 12-year-old is serious about her future.

(Kane:)  "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
(Je'Liyah:)  "A lawyer."
(Kane:)  "Why a lawyer?"
(Je'Liyah:) "I love to help justice."
(Kane:)  "So, if I'm in trouble, you're going to help me?"
(Je'Liyah:) "Yes."
(Kane:)  "What if I'm in big trouble?"
(Je'Liyah:)  "I'm still going to help."

And when it comes to a permanent family, she knows what she's looking for:

"A loving family, an honest family, caring heart."

Gloria Hochman, of the National Adoption Center, based in Philadelphia, says Je'Liyah needs help breaking out of her shell.

"Je'Liyah is a little shy, but once she gets to know people she warms up. And it's important that she have a home with a mom and a dad and other children that might be close to her age in the home," Hochman notes.
