PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Last week we introduced you to nine-year-old James.  This week, we're meeting his eight-year-old sister, Makayla.

These two do all sorts of things together -- including science experiments.

"You know those balls that make your room smell fresh? Well, we put it in water, (and) after a few days it grew bigger," she recalls.

James says he really likes his little sister:

"She loves fashion, she likes to pick out her own clothes.  She helps me with my homework sometimes. She cares about me."

And they always have each other's back.

(James:)  "She'll never lie. Me and her got promises.  Like, if I ever get in trouble, she won't tell."
(Makayla:)  "I take the blame."
(James:)  "And if she gets in trouble, I'll take the blame."

Gloria Hochman, of the National Adoption Center, based in Philadelphia, says it is important these two kids stay together.

"We don't want to separate these children," she notes.  "We wouldn't even think about separating these children. It's important that they have a home together, where they can grow up and be nurtured and feel safe."
