With morning shows gone, perfect weather in line for Phillies-Blue Jays

Morning showers, T-storms give way to warm, sunny weather around Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Clouds breaking for sunshine this afternoon and a southwest breeze will push temperatures to July-like levels, as we surge to the upper 80's with sunshine. Feeling like summertime at the afternoon Phillies game!

A cold front will slide by this afternoon, but the air looks to stay dry enough over our region to prevent any additional storms from forming - severe weather is likely though off to the south with that front.

We'll have to enjoy the warmth today because Thursday kicks off another big change. A new low develops off to our south and lifts northward through the day, bringing morning rain along a warm front.

With clouds and rain, temperatures will not be able to warm much at all - it's likely we'll hit our high at midnight and then level off in the 60's throughout the day.

There will be the risk of storms late Thursday, mainly for areas closest to the center of that new low. As of now, the greatest risk misses us to the south, but parts of Delaware are currently in a Slight, or Level 2/5, risk for severe weather.

Showers and storms will be ongoing Thursday night into Friday, and with clouds and showers we expect highs no better than the upper 50's Friday. With a brief nudge of high pressure, Saturday looks bright - though still below normal temperature-wise - but another disturbance swings through with more clouds and showers for Mother's Day on Sunday.

This is going to be perfect weather if you happen to be headed to Wednesday's Phillies game against the Toronto Blue Jays - though just remember that part of I-95 will be closed leading up to gametime.

Thursday there's a chance of more severe weather, though that threat appears to be shifting south. We'll continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated.

Wednesday: AM storm, warm PM. High 87

Friday: Cool with showers. High 59

Saturday: Sun returns. High 67
