WEATHER: The Calm After The Storm

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Things have quieted down after an extremely active evening in and around Philadelphia.
The severe storms of yesterday evening are a thing of the past, but their impact will linger for days. There have been pages and pages of damage reports coming in throughout the morning, many of it wind damage. There have been numerous trees and power lines down, falling into houses and blocking roadways. The wind itself also damaged many structures, with gusts near hurricane strength! Funnel clouds were also reported, but a tornado has yet to be confirmed.
Before the storms rumbled through, it was a hot and steamy day. The intense heat helped to fuel the storms. We reached 95° in Philadelphia, tying the hottest temperature of the year in the city and making it the first official heat wave of 2015.
Wednesday will be an all-around better day, with clear blue skies, cooler but still warm temperatures, and lower humidity. It will be a perfect day for any outdoor activities, including any storm cleanup. Enjoy it, because we are tracking showers for the end of the week and into the weekend, with much cooler temperatures as well.
