Weather: Snow, Then Wind And Bitter Cold

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- At this time last year, Philadelphia had already received 20.2" of snow. So far in 2015, only 0.1" have fallen.

That will change after today, though not in a big way.

Light snow is well under way across much, if not all, of the Delaware Valley. It will continue through the late morning before eventually tapering off this afternoon. Most places will see a fluffy one or two inches before all is said and done.

The average snowfall through today is 4.5", so the Philly will remain below average ... for now.

Other than a slight chance of a flurry on Wednesday and then again on Friday, the rest of the week looks dry.

The other weather headline will be the bitter cold that is on the way. If you think that this morning was bad, just wait until tomorrow night. Highs on Tuesday will approach 30, but likely remain stuck in the upper 20s.

Wednesday will be about the same, but a blustery wind will make it feel much colder. By Wednesday night, temperatures will drop through the teens, and wind chill values will make it seem more like the single digits - first positive, then negative!
