WEATHER: Calm Before The (Last?) Snow Storm
By Geoff Bansen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thursday is the last full day of winter. Unfortunately, no one told mother nature.
It will, at least, be a tranquil day across the Delaware Valley. Sunny skies will mix with a few clouds as high pressure will slowly slide to the north. Daytime highs will be below average, yet again, but at least we won't have that pesky wind to deal with. Expect these temperatures to remain muddled in the mid-upper 40s and low 50s for the remainder of the month.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, much of the region can expect an average of 2-4" of wet snow, with locally higher amounts possible in the Poconos region. Delaware and southern NJ will see mainly just rain. We are still 24+ hours away from this storm, so changes are certainly possible in this forecast. Timing-wise, the first drops/flakes will begin to fall by mid-morning, a little later than initially expected. The rain/snow line will cut through the region; it's just a matter of exactly where it is. Any mixing will limit accumulations, which will mainly occur on grassy surfaces and cars. Roads will likely become a slushy mess.
*** A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of southeastern PA, central NJ, and New Castle county DE from 6am-8pm Friday ***
