Weather: A Mixed Bag Of Precipitation Kind Of Day
By Geoff Bansen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tired of these messy Monday's? We sure are!
After a, dare I say, 'balmy' day on Sunday, temperatures are back to reality. With near freezing temperatures this morning, some rain is falling in the form of the freezing variety across the Delaware Valley. Icy conditions means travel problems, so extreme caution is urged for your Monday morning commute. Take it slow out there!
As the day moves on, precipitation will continue to fall in the form of rain, freezing rain, and sleet. Just another mixed bag! As temperatures drop by this evening, we are looking at a brief changeover to snow, with the only areas expected to see some light accumulations to the north and west of Philly. Because of all this, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6am Tuesday for Southeast PA, Lehigh Valley, Poconos, Central and Southern NJ, and New Castle County.
The main thing to take away from this is that precipitation will be light and scattered. There is not a ton of moisture associated with this system. That being said, it is still important to remain cautious. Even the smallest patch of ice can cause havoc on the roadways.
Precipitation ends tonight, and after a cloudy start Tuesday expect some clearing during the afternoon. By the end of the week, some more bone-chilling temperatures will be back in the picture!
