Water main break floods part of Oregon Avenue in Philadelphia

Water main break shuts down part of Oregon Avenue in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Part of Oregon Avenue in Philadelphia was inaccessible Wednesday after a water main break, fire dispatchers confirmed.

The street was closed between 24th Street and 21st Street due to water in the road Wednesday morning. Later a lane opened up for drivers to get by.

Members of the Philadelphia Fire Department are on the scene.

A spokesperson for the Philadelphia Water Department said a 12-inch water main broke this morning at 23rd Street and Oregon Avenue. Crews shut down the main just after 7 a.m., impacting four properties, the spokesperson added.

The department is also investigating another possible water main break in North Philadelphia.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
