War Of Words Heating Up Between Eagles And Giants

By Ed Benkin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles-Giants rivalry is in full swing.

As the two longtime division rivals prepare for their showdown in South Philadelphia on Sunday night, the trash talk is in high gear.  It began when Giants Defensive Back Antrel Rolle said the Eagles won the NFC East because it was a "weak division" last year.  On Wednesday, several of the Eagles fired back at Rolle.  Jeremy Maclin said Rolle "talks too much" and said the Eagles will respond on the field Sunday night.

"I'm just going out there and playing football," said Maclin.  "He's the only one talking.  We're just going out there and playing football.  It's a big game for us on prime time TV."

Linebacker Brandon Graham said he can't wait to take the field on Sunday evening.  He also had an answer for Rolle's claim that the Eagles benefited from a weak division a year ago.

"They say the division was so weak," Graham said.  "They must have been a weak team.  I'm not really worried about it.  We'll talk after the game.  We'll see what he says after that."

Some Eagles chose to take the high road when it came to responding to Rolle.  Tight End Brent Celek has been through his share of big games against New York and says he won't get into a war of words with the Giants.

"I don't get into that stuff," said Celek.  We have to play the game on the field.  It's going to be a big game, especially in this division.  They know it.  We know it."

The Eagles are tied for first place with the Cowboys in the NFC East, but the Giants are just one game back.  It is a huge early season game, and LeSean McCoy knows the words won't matter once the teams take the field.

"You've got to play the game Sunday," McCoy said.  "He (Rolle) is a good player, and we'll play the game and see how it goes.  I'm confident in my group.  We're 4-1.  We're doing something right, and we'll see what happens Sunday night."

Linebackers DeMeco Ryans (groin) and Mychal Kendricks (calf) both did not practice on Wednesday.
