PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- One of the finalists from NBC's singing competition show, "The Voice" is a graduate of Philadelphia's University of the Arts.

University of the Arts students are thrilled to see their former classmate Matt McAndrew make it so far on the NBC show, "The Voice."

"We all watched the YouTube videos after the show has aired," a student said. "Everyone's just talking about how well he's doing, how, 'aw I remember back when we were in this class!'"

Carol Luttrell is a private voice teacher who worked with McAndrew his junior and senior year.

"He's singing in his beautiful tone," she said. "He does not sound like a classical singer, but the techniques he's using, he's breathing from his diaphragm, and he's placing these vowels beautifully!"

Some say he might even win the whole show.

"I voted for him every day since day one," said a student. "I definitely could see him taking it to the top!"
