U.S. Marshal Says Suspect Who Allegedly Stabbed, Dumped 3 Men In Schuylkill Has Been Arrested In Virginia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Officials in Virginia say they've arrested a man wanted for allegedly stabbing three people and throwing them into the Schuylkill River over the summer. A third man survived the horrific crime.

The U.S. Marshal's office says 43-year-old Tam Minh Le was captured after a brief standoff on Tuesday at a motel in Ashland, Virginia.

Officials spotted Le entering a room at the Motel 6. They surrounded the area and were able to remove Le's wife and daughters from the room. Le was arrested after a brief standoff.

Le, along with members of the BTK gang, reported stabbed the three victims and dumped their bodies into the river in August. The men were tied to weighted canisters and their throats were slit.

One of the victims survived the attack and identified Le as the assailant. Police had been searching for him ever since.

According to the FBI's Most Wanted list, Le was convicted of a 1994 murder in New York and went to jail for 152 months. A $25,000 reward was offered for information leading to its arrest.

"Tam Le's arrest is a testament to the extraordinary efforts made by our dedicated men and women who worked on this case," said U.S. Marshals Service Director Stacia Hylton. "I am greatly appreciative of their hard work and commitment to bringing this dangerous fugitive to justice."

Le is being held at the Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover, Va.
