Two Weeks After Storm, Debris Clogs Washington Township Streets

WASHINGTON Twp., N.J., (CBS) -- Two weeks after a powerful storm hit Washington Township, Gloucester County Mayor Barbara Wallace says debris is pouring into the streets, causing a hazard.
"It's very dangerous," Wallace told Eyewitness News.
Many residents lost trees and have since removed them from their property, but the debris is supposed to go in the median. Many residents put the debris in the street. Storm drains are clogged, and Wallace worries that emergency vehicles won't be able to get through.
Wallace told Eyewitness News that the township has a contract with private companies to assist with the debris removal. She says more crews will be out on Wednesday.
Washington Township fire officials warned residents that burning debris on their property is illegal. Fire officials encourage residents to call the Fire Marshal at 856-863-4000.
