Trio Charged With Additional Holdups In South Jersey Armed Robbery Spree
MOUNT HOLLY, N.J., (CBS) -- Three Cinnaminson residents arrested last week for armed robbery have been charged with additional holdups over the last month in Maple Shade, authorities announced Friday.
Elizabeth A. Albertson, 28, Brian Hawthorne, 26, and Charles Richards, 28, were charged with the Jan. 14 armed robbery of the Sunoco gas station and the Jan. 21 of the Country Farms convenient store, both located on Route 73 South.
Albertson is alleged to have been the driver, while Hawthorne and Richards went inside with a firearm and allegedly robbed the businesses, according to authorities.
Authorities say Albertson and Richards were also charged with the Feb. 6 armed robbery of the Good Spirits Liquor Store on West Main Street.
At a first appearance today in Burlington County Superior Court, bail was set at $325,000 for Hawthorne and $400,000 for Richards.
Authorities say the trio is facing charges for several armed robberies in Burlington and Camden counties, including the gunpoint robberies of the 7-Eleven on Route 73 in Mount Laurel on Jan. 16 and the Route 130 Food Mart on Route 130 North in Delran on Jan. 26.
Hawthorne and Richards were also charged with conspiring to rob a liquor store in Florence on Feb. 7.
In Camden County, Albertson and Richards were charged earlier this week with four armed robberies, while Hawthorne was charged with three.
Authorities say the investigation revealed that the defendants allegedly used the proceeds from the robberies to buy heroin in Camden.
