Top Bottomless Mimosas For Brunch In Philadelphia

For many, brunch just wouldn't be brunch without a champagne or a prosecco-infused cocktail on the menu. In the past, brunch-time mimosas and Bellinis were often "bottomless," but that option is disappearing quickly from restaurants across in many states, including Pennsylvania. While a number of former top spots for bottomless mimosas  no longer serve bottomless versions of the cocktail, they do offer alternatives, including specially priced pitchers, cocktail specials and breakfast martinis. In addition to providing an update on a few of these venues, we also reached out to a couple of local "brunch beverage experts" to find out their top Philly area brunch choices.

Everybody loves brunch, especially busy moms like Christine Burke, writer and popular mommy blogger at Keeper of the Fruit Loops. Burke, whose writing occasionally reflects her fondness for adult beverages, said she would happily brunch at the Continental because she's a sucker for its signature martinis.

"The Continental has always been my favorite spot for grown up drinks in Philadelphia," Burke said. "Because man, oh man, do they do mean martinis!"

In addition to an array of decadent brunch dishes like "The Healthy Elvis" and Lobster Mac N' Cheese, the Continental's brunch menu (naturally) includes specialty martinis, and the "By Curious George," which includes Bacardi, Creme De Cacao and house-made banana cream.

Derek's Restaurant, a descendent of the former Sonoma on Manayunk's Main Street, is still serving up mimosas and Bellinis every Saturday and Sunday, just not the bottomless kind. Instead, this bright and modern eatery supplies all the bloody mary's and mimosas you like for just $3 each until 3:00 p.m. On Sundays, the menu touts a half-price wine special during brunch. Favorite brunch menu items include "bananas Foster," with the bananas sautéed in dark rum, brown sugar and butter and whipped cream, and the "brunch burger," which is crafted from prime ground sirloin or turkey and topped with fried egg and bacon.

Located in Old City, Farmicia is noted for serving up a sophisticated menu of locally grown, organic fare. We included this venue in a prior round up of best boozy brunch spots and are happy to share that not much has changed with brunch beverage menu offerings since we last checked in. Farmica is still serving up half-priced alcoholic beverages including draught beer, wine and champagne by the glass, and specialty cocktails during brunch happy hour, which runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Brunch menu starters include specialty drinks like the Barn Burner, the venue's signature bloody mary, and the Farmer's Daughter, a mimosa-like blend of fresh-pressed orange juice and prosecco.

Philadelphia special events and party planner Renee Patrone, of Events by Renee & Party Host Helpers recalls that a number of Philly area restaurants offered bottomless mimosas until just recently. At the moment though she could only name one venue that still offered anything of the sort. Patrone said that Stephen Starr's Jones restaurant has $21 bottomless Bellinis on their brunch menu, but that they are the only one she knows of these days. Like the dinner menu at Jones, where comfort food favorites like baked mac and cheese, meatloaf, grilled cheese, and chicken pot pie rule, the brunch menu reads like your favorite 50's-era mom's kitchen. In addition to the fan favorites already mentioned, brunch offerings  include fat and fluffy French toast, buttermilk flapjacks and a scrumptious chocolate chip waffle.

This lively Northern Liberty sports bar still serves up a diverse brunch but no longer offers bottomless mimosas or bloody marys, which, at our last round up, used to go for $20. Instead, Bellinis and mimosas are served up by the pitcher (which serves 8) for $25. The menu still includes plenty of delightful dishes like the "Holy Cannoli," brioche bread stuffed with homemade cannoli filling, whipped cream, melba sauce, berry compote and maple syrup. This is topped off with a mini cannoli. It'd be remiss if we neglected to mention that Kings Oak has a lovely selection of specialty breakfast martinis, including the Rum Chata & Three Olives Loopy concoction dubbed "Fruit Loops."
