Tony Hicks Hits Last Second Shot To Lift Penn Over Cornell
ITCHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Troy Hicks scored 20 of his 25 points in the second half, including the game-winning basket with four seconds left to give Pennsylvania a 71-69 win over Cornell on Friday night.
Devin Cherry missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Cornell, which scored the first 12 points of the game and led 35-27 at halftime.
Antonio Woods had a three-point play at 1:26 and Sam Jones made a 3 with 42 seconds left to put Penn up 69-68. Shonn Miller, who led Cornell with 20 points and 10 rebounds, made one of two free throws to tie the game with 31 seconds to go.
Woods and Jones combined for 23 points for the Quakers (7-11, 2-2 Ivy League), who shot 49 percent and made 10 of 19 3-pointers. Hicks, a junior, had 27 and 29 points in his first two games at Cornell.
Robert Hatter had 16 points for the Big Red (10-11, 2-3).
