Tony Bennett Will Leave His Heart In South Jersey ... For One Night Only

GLASSBORO, NJ (CBS) -- One of America's classic crooners makes his way to, of all places, Glassboro, Saturday night for a one night only performance.

The Rowan University School of Performing Arts has held an annual concert for five years now to heighten its profile.

Doctor John Pastin, dean of the school, had an idea for this year's headliner.

"We said, 'Hey, let's see if we can get someone that falls in the same category as Tony Bennett.'" "

Then we said, 'Why not Tony Bennett?'" Paston told KYW Newsradio.

A few phone calls later, and Bennett, best known for his classic "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," was booked.

The concert hall's 800 seats went in a week once the word got out.

Pastin is psyched about the show. Turns out, he actually backed Bennett up at a concert in the late 80's, and a member of his faculty performs on a Bennett CD with Lady Gaga. But he doubts the 90 year old legend would remember him.
