The New Cadillac XT5: A Fresh Take On The Crossover

By George Polgar

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - To adequately characterize the compelling appeal of the new Cadillac XT5 Crossover, its predecessor the Cadillac SRX deserves a mention. Since 2004 this mid-sized 5-door crossover respectably blazed a trail for the smaller premium SUV format.

The new XT5 not only replaces the SRX but verily recreates the crossover format beyond the shrunk down Cadillac Escalade concept.

The XT5 exterior is an athletic profile draped in a silky muscular skin and highlighted by high-tech jewel-like headlamps and a distinctive Cadillac front grill. The four wheels pushed to the far corners, gives the Cadillac XT5 a longer look and much better road manners.

Inside the Cadillac XT5 is resplendent in rich leather seating and finely crafted wood accents, and an all-new communications and entertainment suite that is Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatible.

For safety XT5 bristles with 360 camera views including the video rear view mirror, to supplement the large in-dash screen.

Most importantly the XT5 is designed to appeal to younger buyers moving up … not downsizing – priced from $38,995. Class leading front and rear leg room, big cargo space and a spirited all-wheel drive dual clutch, 3.6 liter V6 powertrain makes the Cadillac XT5 the ideal daily driver and road trip choice.
