Temple Football Welcomes Solid Recruiting Class Following Impressive Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Wednesday is college football's National Signing Day, and Temple head coach Matt Rhule is very happy about this year's incoming class.

The Owls used last season's success as a springboard to land new, top-notch talent.

"We feel like we've addressed some needs. We've gotten faster. That's been one of our goals over the last three years."

Coach Matt Rhule says a big part of their recruiting strategy has been to keep the local boys close to home.

"Most importantly, we made some real inroads into Pennsylvania. We've always been a really strong New Jersey recruiting outfit, but this year is probably the strongest we've done in Philadelphia into Pennsylvania," said Rhule.

But The Owls have also did some work outside of the tristate. One of the highlights of this year's class is Isaiah Wright, a 6'2" wideout from Connecticut.

"Couldn't be more excited about it. He's a Temple kid, and it came down to three schools at the end and he picked us," said Rhule.
