Temple Football Finally Ranked, #22 In Latest AP Poll

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Temple football continued their unexpected hot streak on Saturday night with a 30-16 win over UCF. The Owls are now 6-0 on the season, have earned bowl eligibility and are now finally a nationally ranked team.

On Sunday, the Owls were ranked No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and were ranked No. 22 in the AP Top 25 Poll.

The Owls are ranked on the strength of impressive wins over Penn State and Cincinnati, but they have also displayed dominance against their lesser opponents. The Owls have defeated their opponents this year by an average of 19 points per game.

The Owls are 6-0 for the first time since 1979, and if they defeat ECU in their next game, they will set a school-best with a 7-0 record. That would set up the Owls with an opportunity to host No. 11 Notre Dame and earn a program defining upset.
