Teen Girl Battling Cancer Hopes To 'Shake It Off' On Stage With Taylor Swift In Philly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Jocelyn Nocito has been battling pancreatic blastoma since she was two-years-old.
After spending years in and out of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia undergoing numerous rounds of chemo, radiation and surgeries, HEADstrong says Jocelyn is the definition of a fighter. That is why the non-profit organization is sending the self-proclaimed "Swifty" to the Taylor Swift concert on June 12 at Lincoln Financial Field.
In addition to sending Jocelyn to Swift's '1989' world tour, HEADstrong is hoping to get the 17-year-old on stage by using the hashtag #JocelynShakesItOff.
HEADstrong says they are encouraging others to use the hashtag in hopes of possibly grabbing the attention of the "Style" singer herself.
The organization says, "Like Philadelphia's own Rocky Balboa and HF founder Nick Colleluori, Jocelyn is the definition of a fighter. Unlike many her age, she has been dealt her fair share of obstacles, but it has been her relentless attitude that has allowed her to shake off the negative and maintain a positive mindset, which captivates and inspires everyone that she meets."
Jocelyn is now preparing for another round of surgery in which her medical team will signal her brain to tell her stomach and intestinal muscles to contract allowing her to properly digest food.
Despite all of this, Jocelyn is still anxiously awaiting Taylor Swift to come to the City of Brotherly Love.
HEADstrong says in part, "We were so moved by Jocelyn's story and determined to show our support for her and everything that her family has endured over the years. With Taylor Swift coming to town this summer, we viewed this as a perfect opportunity to doing something amazing for her."
