Suspected Drunk Driver Slams Into Police Cruiser On I-95 In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A suspected drunk driver slammed into the back of a police cruiser on I-95 early Monday morning in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened around 2:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes between the Cottman Street and Bridge Street exits.

Authorities say Philadelphia police were assisting state police with a previous accident when a man driving a black SUV rear-ended a patrol car.

There were no officers inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in unknown condition.

The three left lanes were blocked for more than two hours as a result of the accident.
