Suspect Arrested For Murder Of Delaware Taxi Driver
MILLSBORO, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware say they've made an arrest in the August 2014 murder of a taxi cab driver.
The suspect, Joshua J. Dutton, 23, was already being held at Sussex Correctional Institution for violating probation.
Information obtained by interviewing Dutton revealed the victim, William Toomey, picked him up on Coastal Highway just south of the Sea Esta IV Motel in Rehoboth Beach.
The cab then made its way to a secluded location within the Parker's Point development west of Millsboro. At that time, police say, Dutton apparently removed his trouser belt and used it to strangle Toomey from behind.
Dutton then drove the taxi through Sussex County before abandoning it on Country Living Road near Millsboro.
Toomey's death was originally considered suspicious before being classified a homicide on Aug. 21, 2014.
Dutton was arrested on Friday, Sept. 26th for Murder 1st and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony. He remains jailed at SCI without bail.
