Surprise! The Sixers Have The Worst D-League Team, Too
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It took a few months, but the Sixers are as bad as we all expected them to be. With the second-worst record in the league, and closing in on the worst, the Sixers are last in the NBA in net efficiency, point differential, turnover rate, and more. They've lost 15 straight games, and there is no end in sight.
Now that we're clear on what the Sixers are, let's take a look at the Sevens.
When taking a look at the Delaware 87ers, the D-League affiliate of the 76ers, the commercial about drugs where the kid says, "I learned it from watching you, dad!" comes to mind.
The 87ers, in their first year as the direct affiliate of the Sixers (they were formerly the Utah Flash), have the worst record in the NBA Development League at 11-25.
It doesn't stop there, either.
The Sevens also have the worst net efficiency in the D-League. They are last in the league in offensive efficiency (just like the big club!), and last in assist to turnover ratio.
Of course, this is not particularly alarming, as the record of the D-League team isn't of much consequence. The Sixers actually made a nice move by acquiring their own team in the league, as there are many advantages, including the ability to hire coaches, dictate the direction of play, and send players up and down regularly, as they have with Lorenzo Brown this season.
It's not alarming, it's just sort of funny.
