Stretch Of Highway In Bucks County Renamed To Honor Fallen Officer

By Tim Jimenez

WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS) - The death of a Pennsylvania State trooper was on the minds of those who gathered in Bucks County Sunday to honor a native son killed in the line of duty two years ago.

The Hartsville Fire company was filled with those who knew and loved Officer Brad Fox, killed while serving Plymouth Township.

He grew up here in Warminster and so, on what would have been his 37th birthday, Route 263, from West Street Road to West Bristol Road, was officially renamed the Bradley M. Fox Memorial Highway.

"Everybody getting together and dedicating a highway in my son's name. I couldn't be more proud," his father, Tom, said.

He was among the family members who unveiled the memorial sign. They remember their hero, but also send thoughts to the family of Corporal Bryan Dixon, the state trooper who was killed over the weekend.

"They're out there to protect everybody and it's senseless. It's senseless," says Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick.

Yet another reminder, says Fitzpatrick, of sacrifice from law enforcement and those who love them:

"Wait for the return of their spouse or their son or daughter and you pray that you never get that knock at the door but that's what the family lives with."

And state repetitive Bernie O'Neill adds the deaths of Fox, Dixon and others are indeed a reminder of great sacrifice:

"What our first responders have to deal with on a daily basis. It is true they kiss their family goodbye before their shift and you never know."
