Steps To Minimize Effects Of Sleep Loss As We Spring Forward This Weekend
By Lynne Adkins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As we turn the clocks ahead and lost an hour of sleep this weekend, you'll see a lot of bleary eyed co-workers on Monday.
There are some steps you can take to help you feel better as you suffer through the time change. Bobby Allen, Manager of the Sleep/Wake Disorders Center at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne says it's always a good idea to get rid of the distractions in your bedroom.
"Having a dark quiet room, not bringing in distractions in the room with you, they're finding now that people talking on cell phones, or even the light from your tablet or cell phone if you're checking your Facebook before bed, will prolong your sleep onset."
He also suggests waking at the same time every day. Don't sleep in on weekends and refrain from eating drinking alcohol or coffee, right before shut eye.
