Special Papal Carpets To Be Delivered Next Week

By David Madden

LANGHORNE, Pa. (CBS) - A Bucks County company has manufactured three custom carpets to be used during the Papal visit.

It's taken more than two months to design, color and craft the items being donated by the Langhorne Carpet Company. President Bill Morrow worked hand in hand with the church to come up with them.

You'll see the handiwork of his staff as soon as Pope Francis gets here.

"The major piece is a 9 foot by 75 foot runner that will be, as we understand it, used at the airport and is what the Pope will step on to when he gets off his plane," Morrow told KYW Newsradio.

Yes it's red. But it also has gold medallions along the sides. They got the inspiration from a stained glass window at the Cathedral.

The other two are going into the rectory at the Basilica.

Morrow won't say how much it's costing his company, but insists it's a labor of love for all those who work at the mill:

"They're thrilled. They enjoy it. It's something they can tell their kids about."

But they'll probably have to settle for seeing the Pontiff walk on their creation on TV.

The carpets will be delivered to the Archdiocese next week.
