Southbound Ramp To I-95 At Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange Closes For Reconstruction

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Another phase of reconstruction of Interstate 95 will affect a heavily-used ramp at the Betsy Ross Bridge interchange in Port Richmond.

The Aramingo Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-95 was shut down Monday and will be closed until September 2016.

Crews are going to rebuild and widen it to increase the traffic capacity on the ramp.

"For a period of nine months," says PennDOT's Gene Blaum, "detours will be in place for trucks and for passenger vehicles from Aramingo Avenue who want to go south on I-95."

Blaum says for cars, the detour takes drivers along Aramingo Avenue to the Girard Avenue interchange to the on-ramp to I-95 south.

But for trucks, they'll be detoured south on Aramingo Avenue to Castor Avenue, a left on Castor, a right on Delaware Avenue and a right onto Allegheny to the Allegheny Avenue interchange for southbound I-95 access.
