South Philly Stadium Gets Makeover For NCAA Hockey Championships

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As collegiate basketball fans get ready for the national championship game tonight (see related story), the Wells Fargo Center is being made over for the "Final Four" in another sport.
This morning, a worker on a crane attached signs saying "Frozen Four" to the outside of the Wells Fargo Center while, inside, a whole new crop of NCAA ice hockey championship banners dangled from the rafters.
The ice, normally decorated for the NHL Flyers, is getting a whole new look for this event.
"We're going to increase the (depth) of the ice by another half an inch," says Comcast-Spectacor spokesman Ike Richman, "cover that with white, soluble paint so it's visible on TV. There's no reflections that way. And then we'll put the red lines, the blue lines, and this big NCAA 'Frozen Four' logo -- a Philadelphia logo as well."
But what you won't see around the building is pretty much anybody else's logo. NCAA rules restrict advertising much beyond the organization's own brand.
The hockey semifinals are Thursday and the final is Saturday.
