Some New Faces Win Democratic Nominations For Phila. City Council

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Some apparent upsets for incumbents came this Primary Election Day in the races for Democratic nominations for City Council "at-large" seats.
Three newcomers were among the top five vote-getters in the Democratic at-large battle: Derek Green, an attorney and former City Council staffer; Allan Domb, a real estate investor who spent more than a half-million dollars of his own money on his campaign; and school activist Helen Gym (top photo).
Two incumbents managed to retain their party's nominations: Blondell Reynolds Brown, and Bill Greenlee. Two other incumbents, though, did not survive: Wilson Goode Jr., and Ed Neilson.
In the Second Councilman District, incumbent Kenyatta Johnson withstood a primary challenge from real estate developer Ori Feibush.
And in the Seventh District, the numbers show incumbent councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sánchez with a narrow win over challenger Manny Morales.
