Social Media Today: Twitter Policy Changes, Vine Update, #SelfieABC

Twitter Will Remove Photos of Deceased Individuals

Family members can now request certain pictures and videos of deceased individuals be removed from Twitter. The company says it will "consider" media removal requests sent to privacy@twitter.com in order to respect the wishes of loved ones of the deceased.

The policy change comes a week after Robin Williams' daughter, Zelda Williams, shut down her account because she was being harassed.

The company's support page says "Twitter considers public interest factors such as the newsworthiness of the content and may not be able to honor every request."

Vine update to let users import videos

Vine has released an update to the app that finally lets users import video from their camera.

The video sharing app has always required users to film new content directly within the app but now, Vine users can import video that they shot on their phone, or video they downloaded from friends or Dropbox.

ABC debuts new show on Twitter

In a first ever move, ABC has made the pilot episode of its new comedy "Selfie" available to watch within a Tweet.

The show, loosely based on My Fair Lady, is about a social media-obsessed 20-something ( Karen Gillian) who looks to a marketing guru (John Cho) for help in rehabbing her flawed ways. "Selfie" officially premieres Sept. 30th.

Twitter users can also embed the show into their own original Tweet by adding #SelfieABC but it only works for iOS users.
