Snowy Forecast Has Area Singles Looking For A 'Blizzard Buddy'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Area singles are scrambling for more than eggs, bread, and milk in preparation for this weekend's snow storm. Some are looking for a "blizzard buddy" before the storm hits.

As the winter storm approaches, area singles are turning to dating apps, Craigslist, and exes in search of a "Blizzard Buddy" to keep warm and busy during the storm.

"I think it's been going on since the Vikings probably they just didn't have any websites back then to hype it up"

That's Philadelphia author and advice columnist Anna Goldfarb

"For younger people when they hear that a snow storm is coming they think oh this is an unusual experience where they get to play house with someone, it's like an extended hookup."

If you are spending the weekend with your "Blizzard Buddy" Goldfarb has some advice

"Make sure that you have an exit plan, that you can leave if things get weird or uncomfortable or you're just bored of each other."

A Tinder spokesperson says historically usage of the service spikes during the winter season because "around this time, people make New Years resolutions to find love and everyone is looking to find someone special in time for Valentine's Day."
