Winter Weather Advisory: Snow Will Continue With Heaviest Occurring In Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The large, but broken storm system continues to spin through the region today. A winter weather advisory is in effect for most locations until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

This is not a well organized storm so the snow will be intermittent and vary in intensity during the entire event.
TIMING: Snow showers will continue on and off all day before ending overnight. The steadiest snow will occur this afternoon.
IMPACTS: Slippery travel is expected on untreated surfaces. Temperatures today will rise above freezing and this will assist with melting. Tonight temperatures will dip below freezing so patches of black ice may form.
COASTAL IMPACTS: With the onshore wind flow, tides will continue to run higher than normal. A coastal flood warning remains in effect through this afternoon for the NJ and DE coasts. Minor to moderate tidal flooding is possible.
AMOUNTS: Generally 1-3" is forecasted in and around Philly. Locally higher amounts of 3-5" are likely in the warning areas west of the city such as in Delaware and Chester counties. Lower amounts are forecasted across Southern Delaware and coastal NJ because rain will mix in.
