Sixers Claim Thomas Robinson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Sixers announced on Tuesday the team has claimed forward Thomas Robinson off of waivers.

The Sixers needed Robinson's remaining salary to reach within 90 percent of the NBA's salary floor before season's end, as Robinson's $3,678,360 salary pushes the Sixers over the floor.

Robinson, 23, was a fifth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft out of Kansas. The 6'10", 237-pound forward has appeared in 172 career games in three NBA seasons with the Kings, Rockets, and Trail Blazers. He has posted averages of 4.6 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game, in 13.5 minutes per game.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports, while the Sixers can waive Robinson after using him to reach the salary minimum, the team plans to keep and evaluate him at least in the short-term.
