Sixers Announce Tony Wroten Has A Partially Torn ACL
By Ray Boyd
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Friday afternoon, the Sixers gave an update on the injury status of guard Tony Wroten.
The team announced that Wroten has sustained a partial tear of the ACL in his right knee. The team added that there is no timetable for the injury, but they have decided that the best course of action is for Wroten's ACL to be repaired surgically.
The Sixers also added that until the procedure takes place, they will be unable to determine when Wroten could potentially return to basketball.
Wroten leads the Sixers in scoring this season averaging 16.9 points per game. He is also second in assists per night with 5.2 and leads the team in steals per game with 1.6.
The third year guard has earned the praise of Sixers' coach Brett Brown for his energy and tenacity. The team will have to look to replace his burst off the bench for what will look like a lengthy stint on the sidelines.
