Shoppers Gather Outside Reading Terminal Market For Franklin Flea

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- People who skipped the trip to the shore this Memorial Day weekend and decided to stay in the city had no shortage of things to do. One of the most popular stops Saturday afternoon was outside Reading Terminal Market, which teamed up with Franklin Flea for the first of two times this summer.

Filbert Street was shut down between 11th and 12th streets, and underneath the overhang outside Reading Terminal Market were a variety of vendors, live music and food. Mark Velve runs Franklin Flea, and says the location seems to be a hit.

"This is my 4th year of running markets outside; this is definitely the busiest morning we've ever had," Velve said.

So what kind of stuff can visitors find?

"Vintage furnishings, handmade items, its a very highly curated market," he said. "So we pride ourselves on a lot of functional handmade things, or some really vintage, cool collectibles that are home furnishings."

Franklin Flea returns to Reading Terminal Market on June 18th, and more dates may be added throughout the summer.
