PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Several people made a daring escape from an early morning fire in North Philadelphia.

Police say the fire broke out at 912 West Huntingdon Street around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Four officers arrived on scene and saw that the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Neighbors told crews that people were still inside the house. Two brothers who live nearby were able to kick down the door and help an elderly male out of the home through the front door. They were also able to convince the man's wife to jump to safety from a second floor window. Neighbors on the block helped to catch her.

The two victims were taken to Temple University hospital for smoke inhalation.

The fire was placed under control around 2:15 a.m.
