Several Chefs Help Prepare Food To Help Salvation Army Celebrate Farm-To-Table

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Six community chefs are helping the Salvation Army celebrate the farm-to-table while raising money for local emergency feeding programs.

The chefs come from some of Philadelphia's most popular restaurants-- like Chef Chris Briar of Jose Garce's Domestic-- and they'll be preparing food straight from the farm at a special brunch at Morris House Hotel in Center City.

"They will display not only their culinary abilities, but they will also show you how to use what you grow."

Major Robert Dixon is director of operations for Greater Philadelphia.

He says guests will be able to visit six food stations serving dishes like gazpacho, fresh fruit, waffles and honey smoothies-- and all to support the Salvation Army's nutrition programs- which provided more than 600,000 meals in Philadelphia last year.

"Through food pantries or eating and feeding programs or lunch programs at our various locations."
