SEPTA Stepping Up Security In Wake Of Brussels Attack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Septa is increasing security in response to the Brussels attack, although officials emphasize there is no threat of an attack in the United States.

"Bother us!" That's the advice from Septa police chief Thomas Nestel. He wants riders to report anything out of the ordinary.

"If you see something suspicious and it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, we want to know, call 911 immediately." said Nestel.

Nestel believes it's likely that the terrorists who carried out the Brussels attack snuck explosives into the airport inside a bag and abandoned it, "so when a bag is left on a platform, on a bus, on a train, we want to know right away."

"They'll see a lot of smiling officers. Smile back, we're all safe," said Nestel, who declined to say how he'd be deploying additional officers but says they'll be noticeable, to give riders a sense of security.
