Security Guard Arrested For Robbing ATM

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Bensalem Township Police have arrested a Philadelphia man after he robbed an ATM early today.

Township police were responding to an alarm at the Tru-Mark Financial on Old Lincoln Highway when an officer spotted a man walking along the road.

The man was dressed in black and carrying a duffel bag.

The officer tried to stop the man and a chase ensued. When the officer finally subdued the man, and recovered the bag, he found $68,000 inside.

The money had been removed from an ATM machine at Tru-Mark Financial.

The suspect, 50-year-old Dennis McLernan, was employed by a security company responsible for servicing and emptying the ATM, and had a key to the machine.

He is charged with burglary, theft and related offenses. He is being held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10-percent of 75,000 bail.
