Second Student Injured In Charter School Shooting Released From Hospital
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 17-year-old student who was injured during a shooting at a Philadelphia high school has been sent home from the hospital.
His release comes two days after he was shot while inside the gymnasium at Delaware Valley Charter High School along the 200 block of Old York Road in Logan (See Related Story).
The teen, whose identity was not released, was shot in the shoulder after the bullet struck and traveled through the arm of another student.
That student, an 18-year-old female, was treated and released from Albert Einstein Medical Center late Friday.
The alleged gunman, a 17-year-old student, who police have identified as Rai-Sheem Rockwell, surrendered to authorities Saturday afternoon and was charged as an adult with aggravated assault and related offenses (See Related Story). He was arraigned Saturday night.
Two other teens who were taken into custody and questioned have since been cleared by investigators and released.
It's unclear if the shooting was accidental and questions remain about how the student was able to get the gun into the school.
The incident remains under investigation.
