Caught On Tape: School Bus Ride Through Flood Waters
By Natasha Brown
EAST FALLOWFIELD Twp., Pa., (CBS) -- Caught on camera: a driver takes a school bus on a risky ride during serious flooding.
Now some parents are outraged.
It happened in East Fallowfield Township, Chester County.
"That's a nightmare."
Colleen Rasmussen gasps at the sight of this video showing a school bus wading through flood waters.
An area resident along Mortonville Road in Coatesville captured this 30 second video clip and submitted it to the Daily Local News.
You can see the bus which reportedly had kids on board trudging through high water. The bus looks to hit debris submerged in the water, sways back and forth, before continuing on its way.
"That's something that I think every parent worries about, letting their kids on a bus with somebody driving it that's out of their control," Rasmussen said.
Longtime residents say Wednesday's flooding was devastating and dangerous.
Days later Mortonville Road, the same road the bus was traveling on that day, remains closed due to Brandywine Creek flooding.
"Too much. It was just way too much rain," a resident said.
East Fallowfield Police are investigating the incident, trying to figure out what company owns the bus and who was driving, while some parents have choice words for the driver.
"What are you thinking? You just don't know. I don't care how tall the bus is, you just don't mess with Mother Nature and water. It's a force to be reckoned with," Rasmussen said.
We have not heard that any of the children who were reportedly on this bus at the time were injured in any way.
According to police in this area, there are as many as three roads still closed due to flooding at this point.
Police are currently investigating this incident.
