Scattered showers in Philadelphia area Sunday, unsettled week ahead with multiple chances for storms

Showers could pop up across Philadelphia area Sunday, tracking stormy, unsettled week

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Severe storms rolled through the region Saturday, bringing downpours, scattered power outages and wind damage reports. We also hit a high of 93, extending our 4th heat wave of the season to 4 brutal days.

Today is like yesterday-lite, meaning it's still humid, but not as hot. Conditions remain unsettled but storms aren't likely to turn severe.

It's a mostly cloudy day which is holding highs in the low to mid-80s, but any sunshine should help bubble-up a few showers and storms. Biggest threat is heavy rain, but can't rule out some severe wind gusts especially up toward northern New Jersey. The true front won't make it's way through the area until late tonight.

We could see some breaks of sun between 10 a.m. and noon, but showers and storms will be more widespread by 2 p.m.

Radar for Sunday afternoon CBS Philadelphia

Monday will be the driest day with sun and highs back in the 90s. The remainder of next week will be unsettled with a chance of showers and storms each day and much cooler temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s.

A front will move through our area with some gusty storms Tuesday evening, and then we'll have to watch what that front does as it interacts with moisture from Debby, which may trigger some heavy rain in our area by Thursday or Friday.

Models are still split on the exact path of Debby once we get to the end of the week, so we'll continue to monitor that closely.
