Salvation Army Preparing Thousands Of "Thanksgiving-To-Go" Meals
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hundreds of families in need will be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal thanks to generous donations from the Salvation Army.
And instead of a communal meal, the families will be able to enjoy the feast in their own homes!
As always, the fight is primarily against hunger.
But this week, time is enemy number one.
Volunteers at the Salvation Army in Philadelphia are currently racing to prepare full meals for nearly 4,000 people ahead of Thanksgiving.
The Salvation Army's "Thanksgiving-to-Go" in its third year and allows those in need to pickup a complete meal and enjoy it at home with family.
"They're able to have their meal, they're able to have leftovers just like you and I would. And hopefully just have a nice peaceful family time," Project Director Arlene Olson told Eyewitness News.
"We are doing the most good for as many people as we possibly can. And that's what the Salvation Army does," Olson said.
