Pre-race ritual: Drink coffee and have a bagel smothered in peanut butter. For longer races I try to eat more than the shorter distances.

Tips for new runners: Take it slow, listen to your body and enjoy yourself.

Why he runs: My wife talked me into signing up for a local 5k. I never ran before that at all. I trained for it, ran it, and loved running ever since. I am a long distance guy who loves to run marathons and further. I've completed 22 marathon distance races on trails and on roads. The biggest influence on my running is being a member of a local running club, the Pineland Striders. We attend numerous different races together.
