Resurfacing Project Underway On Kelly Drive

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Commuters who use Kelly Drive are going to be facing some inconvenience over the next month or two.

PennDOT's Charles Metzger says 3-and a half-miles of Kelly Drive is being resurfaced with an ultra-thin friction course pavement which channels storm water off the roadway.

He says the work is already underway between Hunting Park Avenue and Kelly Drive ramp to Ridge Avenue.

"Crews will be working Mondays through Saturdays with operations taking place during off peak hours and the project is expected to be done by the end of May."

Metzger says drivers can get updates on the construction work in a number of ways.

"Motorists can always go to our 511PA.com website, or they can dial 511 on their cell phones to get up-to-the-minute traffic conditions."

The project comes with a $1.8 million price tag.

Metzger says it will also include upgrading 22 curb ramps along the drive.
