Reports: Phillies Set To Name New General Manager
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It appears the Philadelphia Phillies have found a new general manager.
The team is set to name Angels assistant general manager Matt Klentak as its new GM, according to multiple reports.
Klentak, 35, has been with the Angels since the 2012 season. He'll replace Ruben Amaro Jr., who held the GM position with the Phillies from 2008 until he was fired late in the 2015 season.
Klentak is no stranger to Phillies president Andy MacPhail. He worked with MacPhail from 2008-2011 in Baltimore, where he served as director of baseball operations for the Orioles.
The Phillies have not confirmed the hiring. An official announcement from the team is expected by Monday.
