Report: Phillies Targeting Andy MacPhail For Front-Office Role
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- With changes on the horizon for the 22-42 struggling Philadelphia Phillies, a new team leader could be coming.
According to CSNPhilly.com's Jim Salisbury, the Phillies are targeting Andy MacPhail as a potential new team President. MacPahil, 63, has strong relationships with Phillies chairman David Montgomery and current president Pat Gillick according to Salisbury.
MacPhail previously served as general manager of the World Series winning Minnesota Twins (1987, 1991), president of the Chicago Cubs, and president of baseball operations with the Baltimore Orioles.
Gillick, 77, is currently the Phillies' interim president and it is unclear what role, if any, MacPhail would take or when it would take place.
