Report: Eagles Hire Musgrave As QB Coach
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles have replaced Bill Lazor, and hired Bill Musgrave as the team's new quarterbacks coach, according to a report.
Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Eagles have hired Musgrave.
Musgrave, 46 years old, played in the NFL from 1991 until 1996, and has been an NFL coach since he stopped playing, most recently as the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator from 2011 until last season. Musgrave was the quarterbacks coach under Ray Rhodes for the Eagles in 1998.
Musgrave succeeds Lazor, who left the Eagles after one season to become the offensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins.
Musgrave also served as assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach for the Falcons from 2006 until 2008, where he assisted in the development of Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan.
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reports that Musgrave was hired in part because of his "calm demeanor," and with "Nick Foles in mind." McLane says that Foles and Lazor occasionally "butted heads" because of Lazor's demeanor.
