PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Word broke Thursday that former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was arrested recently for driving under the influence in Arizona.

McNabb was pulled over for speeding on December 15th, 2013 in Maricopa County, Arizona, and subsequently charged with DUI.

As part of a plea deal, McNabb had to serve one day in jail, which he did Wednesday night.

The incident came to light after authorities in Maricopa County released McNabb's mugshot.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says McNabb was booked in the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Detention facility on Wednesday by order of the West Mesa Justice Court. McNabb was released from county jail after serving one day for a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Sheriff Arpaio says, "I have had other high profile athletes who have been incarcerated with no problems and this latest athlete follows that same pattern."

McNabb played with the Eagles for 11 years, and holds 16 team records including most career passing yards, most career passing touchdowns, and most completions in a single season among many others.
